Ring out the old, ring in the new; Ring, happy bells, across the snow;
The year is going, let him go; ring out the false, ring in the true.

2013 - A Went Year to Remember.
While I do believe in letting the past go, there are those special occasions and past moments that deserve to be acknowledged and cherished. Looking back on 2013 for Went, it certainly was a year that I won’t forget in a hurry and I’m sure that Went won’t either.
The year started off slow for Went but by March it certainly picked up with the release of Wentworth’s screenplay “Stoker” on the big screen on the 1st March 2013. Stoker was directed by Park Chan-wook. Starring Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode, Mia Wasikowska, Dermot Mulroney and Jacki Weaver. The movie has received wonderful reviews from most of the critics from all over. You need only to follow “Stoker’s” ratings on the internet to see how well it's done.
On the 6th March 2013 an interview by Ramon Setoodeh with Went via e-mail was published by The Daily Beast which lent itself for some very interesting insights into Went’s acting career and his writing process. Here’s the link for ease of access.
On the 22nd March 2013 it was announced that Relativity Media had acquired the rights to “Scare Me” a psychological thriller written by Richard Parker and Went was approached to adapt the Screenplay which I’m quite sure he creatively did. [She teases.]
Went was a judge at the UCLA’s Shorttakes Screen Festival on the 7th May 2013.
On the 2nd June 2013 Went celebrated his 41st birthday. I made a video for Went’s birthday and my personal message to him was that I’d hoped he would continue to inspire others and boy he stayed true to form that’s for sure. Perhaps he watched my video and took my advice. [She jokes.]
For those of you who may have missed it here’s the link:
It was on the 22 August 2013 when Went shattered many female hearts and warmed many other hearts with his revelation that he was gay. His truth was written in a letter addressed to the St Petersburg International Film Festival declining an invitation on principle and as an act of solidarity to his LGBT brothers and sisters who were being discriminated against by the Russian Government.
I will always remember Went's act of love and courage on this day. I’m pretty sure that Went will always remember this day proudly. I would say it was a day of liberation for Went.
On the 23rd August 2013 “Diner” a moving piece written by Wentworth in April 2013 was published by the Mankind Project Journal on the Internet. It’s one of Went’s personal experiences and it's obvious that it was a climacteric moment in his life.
Went was invited to speak as an honoured guest at the HRC, Seattle’s Gala Dinner on the 7thSeptember 2013. This was the day Went set himself free by being truthful and authentic. It was one of the most touching and also awe-inspiring speeches that will be remembered for a long, long time to come, by all. If I had my way it should be written in stone too for everyone to read “over and over again”. Our world is in desperate need of some shaking and waking up and I’m quite sure Went’s powerful message did just that.
On the 4th November 2013 Went and other well-known celebrities donned T-Shirts with the Russian slogan translated in English meaning “LoveConquersHate” printed on it. It was a sign of solidarity for the LGBT community organised by the Human Rights Campaign.
Went attended a special evening at UCLA on the 6th November 2013 to have an open discussion with its students. The students were given the opportunity of a lifetime to pose questions to Went about his career and his life. Of course twitter was abuzz with pictures of Went’s attendance and some wonderful pictures of him with the students were tweeted too.
Went was featured in OUT Magazine as News Maker of the Year on the 22nd November 2013 alongside other gay celebrities with their coming out stories together with some fantastic photographs.
Behind the scenes of the photo shoot for OUT Magazine were also published on the 22nd November 2013.
And in between all these major Went events during 2013, Went managed to visit a town called, Ashland in Oregon where he was snapped up by a couple of his fans … mostly in Restaurants, Diners and Taverns. Ashland is a town where The Bard of Avon is celebrated on a regular basis much to Went’s delight. [She delights too.] Therefore it’s no wonder that it has become a place that he frequents often.
Of course there were Went meets in all sorts of places too. Especially where food, pastries and beverages are sold e.g. Supermarkets, Take-Aways, and Restaurants in and around LA and Pasadena CA. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” and “Top Chef” are two of Went’s favourite TV programmes. [She jokes.]
Went was also targeted at Target by one of his fans who couldn’t wait to tweet the phenomenon.
It seems that missing luggage also became an issue for Went in 2013, and hopefully his luggage was recovered intact. Unfortunately we will never know what the outcome was. [She teases.]
So overall I would say Went had an unforgettable 2013. Wouldn’t you?
I’m certainly looking forward to seeing what good fortune awaits Went in 2014.
I wish Wentworth, and his loved ones and all of his devoted fans a very prosperous and blessed New Year.
