The Spirit of Christmas

I have a list of people I know
All written in a book
And every year at Christmastime
I go and take a look
And that is when I realise
That those people are a part
Not of the book they're written in
But inside my beating heart
For each name stands for someone special
Who has touched my heart sometime
And in that moment they've become
A treasured friend of mine
And once they’ve touched my heart
The years can never ever erase
The memory of their charm
And their smiling face
So when I send a Christmas wish
That is addressed to you dear Went
It's because you're on that list
Of folk I'm deeply indebted to
As you are one of many folk who
In times past I have seen
And who happens to be one of those
I cannot ever forget
And whether or not I’ve met you
You are someone special
who I admire and respect
And this being the spirit of Christmas,
That always endures
May it leave its richest blessing
In the hearts of you and yours.
