The Photo Shoot With Wentworth Miller for OUT100 Magazine.

Posted on 2:21 PM by hill wilf

A look at behind the scenes of the photo shoot with Went Miller and others for OUT100 Magazine on video was a special treat for all of Went’s fans.

There’s nothing more exciting than to see Went in action behind the camera even if it’s only for a photo shoot.

I must say “the man” has style in this photo shoot from the top of his head ...

all the way down to his naked ankles and his loafers.

Yup! Not one word from Went.  However, when you spot him laughing, it turns your ordinary day into an extraordinary day ...

Went is like a ray of sunshine...

in every way ...

Wentworth Miller & OUT

Posted on 1:28 PM by hill wilf

Little Boy Blue
by Eugene Field (1850-1895)

The little toy dog is covered with dust,
But sturdy and stanch he stands;
And the little toy soldier is red with rust,
And his musket moulds in his hands.
Time was when the little toy dog was new,
And the soldier was passing fair;
And that was the time when our Little Boy Blue
Kissed them and put them there.

"Now, don't you go till I come," he said,
"And don't you make any noise!"
So, toddling off to his trundle-bed,
He dreamt of the pretty toys;
And, as he was dreaming, an angel song
Awakened our Little Boy Blue---
Oh! the years are many, the years are long,
But the little toy friends are true!

Ay, faithful to Little Boy Blue they stand,
Each in the same old place---
Awaiting the touch of a little hand,
The smile of a little face;
And they wonder, as waiting the long years through
In the dust of that little chair,
What has become of our Little Boy Blue,
Since he kissed them and put them there.

There have been many powerful coming-out statements, but few as elegant and considered as Miller’s letter this August declining an invitation to be honored at the St. Petersburg International Film Festival. “As someone who has enjoyed visiting Russia in the past and can also claim a degree of Russian ancestry, it would make me happy to say yes. However, as a gay man, I must decline,” Miller wrote to festival director Maria Averbakh.

“Like everyone, I’d been reading reports online about what was happening in Russia,” Miller says. “So when the invitation arrived, I thought, There is no way I can say yes. Then it occurred to me that if I made my response public, it might help draw additional attention to the situation. It felt like the right move at the right time.”

Best known to millions of Americans for his role as Michael Scofield in the hit Fox series Prison Break (for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe in 2006), Miller has since transitioned from acting to writing. He was responsible for the screenplay to this year’s well-received thriller Stoker, starring Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode, and Mia Wasikowska, and has another screenplay, The Disappointments Room, in development with Voltage Pictures and Christine Vachon’s Killer Films.

Miller took another courageous step in September, appearing at a Seattle event for the Human Rights Campaign, where he opened up about his suicide attempts as a teenager, concluding with a powerful statement of intent: “Let me be to someone else what no one was to me. Let me send a message to that kid, maybe in America, maybe someplace far overseas, maybe somewhere deep inside — a kid who is being targeted at home or at school or in the streets — that someone is watching and listening and caring, that there is an ‘us,’ that there is a ‘we,’ and that kid or teenager or adult is loved and they are not alone.”

Out asked Miller, who praises the Mankind Project for much of his personal growth — “It sounded way out of my comfort zone, but I was looking for a change, shift, growth” — to consider what he might say to his 15-year-old self. Here’s how he replied:

“There are plenty of things I’d say to my 15-year-old self, especially prior to his suicide attempt. However, I’d have things to say to him in the aftermath as well. I remember carrying around deep feelings of shame after I tried to kill myself, feeling like I’d stumbled or failed life’s exam. That I was now ‘damaged goods.’ What I would say to that younger self — what I’d say to anyone who’s walked a similar road — is to focus less on the fact that you nearly ended your life and more on the fact that you survived, that you lived to tell the tale. And then tell it. I’d say, ‘What you think of as scars are medals. They’re badges of honor, testifying to something inside you that is determined and tenacious and enduring.’ That’s why when someone who knows my story approaches me with a ‘poor you’ attitude, my response is, ‘Don’t feel sorry for me. Because I know what it is to be tested. I know what it’s like to be broken and to have to pick myself up again. I know who I am in those moments. And I’m stronger for it.’ There are people out there who have never been tested, who have never been broken, so when life eventually comes for them they can’t say for sure how they’ll respond. Maybe they’ll pick themselves up and maybe they won’t. And my heart goes out to them. Because sooner or later, life comes for everybody.”

An Encounter with Wentworth Miller at UCLA

Posted on 12:44 PM by hill wilf

It gives me great pleasure to share this worthwhile written piece by Jessica about her encounter with Wentworth at the UCLA event on 6thNovember 2013.  Enjoy!

"We’ve been culturally trained to react to a coming out story, but there is still a lot of silence when it comes to suicide."

To anyone who is reading this blog right now and who may be feeling sad, desperate or alone please remember never lose Hope and never Give Up.

No matter how overwhelmed you feel right now, remember life is going to get better.

It's okay to feel down or lost. It's okay to feel anxious or alone. It's okay to cry, to need a shoulder to cry on, to be held.

We are human and it's not possible to have it all together all the time. Picture perfect is laced with invisible cracks.  It’s better to be broken and healed. You learn, you are wiser and stronger. It's okay to make mistakes and it’s okay to be different.  People respect and admire you when you’re authentic and being true to yourself.

Let no one judge you. It's your Path and no one truly understands how you feel unless they walk a mile in your shoes. Some of them would not be able to walk two steps, let alone a mile. So please don't be discouraged. Don't feel lost. You are not alone.

Be the best that you are, the best way you can.  You are a beautiful human being inside and out.  Let no one tell you different.

Try and be Positive. Think good feeling thoughts. Live each moment and find the little things that can make you feel happy.

Suicide should never be an option.  Don’t quit!  You may not realise it but people are counting on you as you are here to help them too.  Everyone is precious and you are needed.

God only gives you as much as you can handle, but sometimes it’s hard to remember how strong you really are.  You’re allowed to ask for help.  God gives you that too … when you ask for it.

Whatever you’ve gotten yourself into, there’s a way out that doesn’t involve quitting.

If you do not have hope you have nothing.  Good things are just down the road.  Miracles do happen every day.Just stay strong and believe.

You are Safe, you are beautiful and you are loved.

~♥ ~

UCLA Students Tweet!

Posted on 2:56 PM by hill wilf

On the 6th November 2013, Went attended an event at UCLA to have a chat with its students.  They were given a wonderful opportunity to quiz Went about his career and anything else they wanted to know about him.  Shortly afterwards a few students got to tweeting about their encounter with "the amazing man".

And others nabbed Went outside to have pictures taken with him too … now that’s what I call ingenuity.

As I always say “Where there’s a will there’s a way” and God knows my will is strong but unfortunately the way was way too far for me to go.  So you can count your lucky starsMr Miller that I live at the arse/ass end of the world, otherwise I would have been there to meet you … boots and all! [She laughs.]

Stars such as Wentworth Miller, Ricky Martin, Kristen Bell, Jonah Hill and more are sending a message to Russia with love; they are standing with Human Rights Campaign—the largest gay rights organization in the US—by donning the Russian-language version of their iconic “Love Conquers Hate” t-shirt to show support for the gay community in Russia.

This act of courage and unconditional love defines who a person really is.  It’s people like these who make this world a better place to live in and who give us hope for the future. Thank you so much dear Went for shining your light so brightly for others to see and to follow. You truly are a beautiful soul and my bright shining star.
