Whatever Happened to Harry?

Posted on 1:22 PM by hill wilf

I’ve  been meaning to blog this update about Went’s screenplay “With A Friend Like Harry” for some time now, but my days have been filled with many distractions, some very lovely ones and some not so lovely.

I was very pleased to finally read about the progress about this screenplay written by Went.

TV director Adam Bernstein has signed on to direct Focus Features’ remake of the French thriller “With a Friend Like Harry.”

Bernstein received an Emmy nomination this year for the first episode of FX’s “Fargo.” He has also won an Emmy for “30 Rock” and has helmed episodes of “Breaking Bad” and “Nurse Jackie.”

Variety reported in July that Focus had acquired the remake rights and launched development.

Wentworth Miller is writing the screenplay. Producers are Maven Pictures’ Celine Rattray and Trudie Styler with Michelle Krumm.

The story involves the titular Harry claiming to be a high school classmate of a less-than-happily married man and insinuating himself into his life. After Harry gives his new friend a taste of a life he’s missed out on, things take a sinister turn.

The French film, released in 2000, starred Laurent Lucas, Mathilde Seigner and Sergi Lopez. Director Dominik Moll and Lopez won Cesar awards.

Bernstein is represented by ICM Partners.

This movie sounds like my cup of tea.   I enjoy thrillers and as Went is an expert at writing them, I’m sure this movie is going to be a huge success and one I’m really going to enjoy a lot.

Writing this blog about Harry, reminds me of these two songs I enjoy from another one of my favourite movies which also had a Harry in it namely “When Harry Met Sally”.

Thank you for reading!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Posted on 11:38 AM by hill wilf

On Thanksgiving!

Never an autumn morning
Never a leaf blows by
Never a golden harvest
Never a still, gray sky.

Never a crisp November
Or bright Thanksgiving Day
But someone thinks of someone
In a warm and Happy Way.

Best wishes to dear Went and his family and to all of his fans in the US. “Happy Thanksgiving”!

God bless you all.

I thank my lucky stars that some people have all the luck of meeting Went because if it wasn't for these fine gentlemen I would never have been privy to these lovely photos of Went and neither would you.

Thank you Went for posing for these wonderful photos!  You do the most engaging things. ♥

"THE FLASH" INTERVIEWS (2)
EONLINE.COM

What can you tease/reveal about your villainous role, Captain Cold, on The Flash?

Very little. Sorry. All I can say is that it's a great introduction. Glen Winter directed my first episode and he's fantastic. I totally lucked out there. Glen had insights and camera moves that really helped me sell the character.

How is it going to be different from the Captain Cold we know from the comics?

I don't know if I can speak to that. Because I haven't read too many of them yet. I didn't grow up reading comics. Not because they didn't appeal. They did. But they were frowned upon in my house. Although I did get deep into "Elfquest" for a beat. On the sly. Anyway, I'd never read "The Flash," I'd never heard of "Captain Cold" before getting hired, and as far as playing him on the show, my sense is that the writers have a take on the character that's slightly different than what's come before. So I'm content to riff on whatever they cook up episode to episode.

I know we're going to meet you in this week's episode, but what can you tease about your return in episode 10?

Nada. Not without getting in trouble. Although I will note that I think it's pretty cool they went to Dom for the role of Heat Wave. I've been trying to think of another situation where two actors closely associated with one show were recast on another show, playing two new characters, and I can't. It feels really unusual. Special.

What new problems will your villain present to Barry and the STAR Labs team that we haven't seen from any other villains yet?

To be determined. But I'd like to imagine that Snart's impact on Barry - and vice versa - could potentially be very personal. Barry's clearly got some father issues, and from what I'm told Snart does too. So they've got that in common. And maybe that will express itself in some way. Or I could be making all that up.

There are so many remakes coming to TV these days. Could you ever see Prison Break coming back? Or even doing a movie at some point?

It's funny - Dom and I were just talking about that. We were saying there could easily be another "hidden chapter," a stand-alone, like at the end of PB's final season with Sara in trouble. I've got people coming up to me everyday - people who were kids when the show first aired - and they're just starting to watch the first season on Netflix or DVD. To them it's like the show is still present tense. It's amazing how many times I get asked when it's coming back.

What was it like reuniting with Dominic as Captain Cold and Heatwave? Is the brotherly bromance still alive?

100%. Which works well in that you can really tell Captain Cold and Heat Wave have spent time in the trenches together. But these are very different characters from "Michael" and "Lincoln" and that's been cool to explore. Also, Dom makes me laugh. He can be very, very funny. I hope one day he gets to give people a taste of that onscreen. They'll be surprised.

Tell us about Leonard Snart, what kind of person he is and what his motivations are. How dangerous is he with that Cold Gun?

Snart's a master criminal at the top of his game, and I think he's been there awhile. And he's a little bored. A little complacent. Then he meets The Flash, who upends everything. And I think Snart appreciates that. On some level. I think he knows The Flash is going to keep him on his toes. Hence the need for new tricks. Like the Cold Gun.

Talk about his dynamic with Barry and going up against him in an epic showdown.

Snart's formidable, of course, but long-term I suspect The Flash may have the upper hand. For one thing, the show's called "The Flash." Also, The Flash has heart, which I believe counts for a lot in the comic book universe. If Snart has a heart, it's buried deep.

Did you read the comics to understand Leonard more?

I took a look at one or two comics but there's so much out there. The character's been around for decades. And then once I met Geoff Johns - one of the show writers and probably the authority on Captain Cold - I thought, I'm going to let Geoff and the powers-that-be tell me what I need to know about this character. My feeling is that they're going to respect the history but also give it a fresh spin. So I'm going to take my cues from the scripts.

He’ll eventually be teaming up with Heat Wave. What are they after?

They want what all villains want. To be top dog. In whatever arena they find themselves.

What was it like reuniting with Dominic?

Like riding a bike. We hadn't seen each other for five years but it was like not a day had passed. I know his rhythms onscreen, he knows mine. And that helped with the characterizations. Captain Cold and Heat Wave are supposed to have history. Built-in chemistry. And that's not something Dom and I have to worry about bringing to the table.

"THE FLASH" INTERVIEWS (3)
THEBACKLOT.COM

In the comics, Captain Cold is driven by three things: money, women, and the desire to beat Barry Allen. How much of that is a part of what we see in your first appearance on the show?

The only thing stronger than Snart's acquisitive streak is probably his competitive streak. So when The Flash shows up and Snart realizes it's no longer business-as-usual, he makes it his business to adapt. I think it's been a long time since someone challenged Snart. And after he gets over the initial shock, it's game on.

Also in the comics, Barry and Cold reluctantly had to work together at times. Will we see that play at all or is it purely one versus the other?

I don't know. And even if I did I probably couldn't reveal that here. It's a cool idea though. Some of my favorite scenes on "Prison Break" were when my character had to work with people he couldn't stand in order to get the job done. Stick a bunch of dogs in a barrel and roll it downhill, and you can pretty much guarantee there'll be something onscreen worth watching.

What was the most surprising thing about working with Dominic again and in such a different capacity?

I think one of the most surprising and useful things about working with Dom again was that we still had our old shorthand. Even after five years apart. He and I have a way of communicating what we want from a scene and how we're going to get it that would take forever to hash out if I was starting from scratch with an actor I'd never met before. And in TV, where there's never enough time, getting to the essence of a scene quickly is key.

I may be guilty of having done the 'gay gasp' when I heard you were playing Cold. What's the reaction been that you're aware of about your part in the show?

Couldn't tell you. I don't read entertainment journalism and I'm not online scrolling through the comments. I hope I'm well-received. But that's not up to me. So I'm not losing sleep over it. One of my acting coaches told me, "You cannot give people what they want. You can only give them what you do. If what you do is what they want, you're in business. If it's not... move on."

There are so many gay characters on TV now, even more so than when Prison Break was on the air. What do you make of where we're at when even a show like The Flash will have gay characters??

Obviously it's important for folks in the LGBT community - kids especially - to see themselves reflected onscreen. I can remember watching "Melrose Place" in college and paying special attention to the "Matt Fielding" character. Did that help ease the pain of coming out? No. Did I squirm a little wondering if my friends who were watching the show with me were connecting me to Matt? Yes. I also knew the actor was straight. But I did appreciate seeing some evidence that Hollywood was willing to tell Matt's story. It wasn't my story, but I felt a connection. Some representation. We've come a long way since then and I'm sure we'll go a long way still.

COMICBOOKRESOURCES.COM

Wentworth, "The Flash" is certainly part of this current explosion of comic book-based live-action prime time TV shows -- with more seemingly announced each week. As an actor who's worked in a variety of genres, what's exciting to you about getting to work with this type of material, and being a part of that larger movement on TV?

You know, I'm a fan of the genre and happy to be part of a show that's been so well-received, but to be honest, it's never been a particular dream of mine to play a superhero or comic book character. The enjoyment I get from playing Captain Cold isn't about riding a popular wave. It's primarily creative. I find the material supports almost any choice I might want to make as an actor. There are dramatic moments, comedic moments, I can be subtle, I can twirl my moustache... That's satisfying for me. It keeps things interesting.

Captain Cold occupies a very distinct and very prominent place in the Flash rogues gallery. What are the qualities in the character that were attractive to you?

Captain Cold is a bad guy with shades of gray. And I like that. The writers have shared some of his backstory with me - which we may or may not get to - and I thought, "Ah - there's a reason he is who he is. Or reasons plural." There are beats in my first episode where I'm an out-and-out bad guy and there are beats that hint at something else. The character's got dimension. Depth.

And did you do much research into the source material to prepare for the role?

I took a look at the comics but there's a lot out there. It's a little overwhelming. So I made the choice to let the powers-that-be tell me what I need to know. They'll guide my course.

Speaking of research -- DC chief creative officer and "Flash" executive producer Geoff Johns is probably the most famous Captain Cold fan. How much have you discussed with him about the character?

He's been great. And Kai Yu Wu, who co-wrote my first episode, has been a real asset as well. They were both on set, making themselves available, and whatever questions I had they were happy to answer. It was actually out of my back-and-forth with Geoff that the idea to approach Dom about Heat Wave emerged.

Of course, much has been made about your "Prison Break" brother Dominic Purcell also joining "The Flash" cast as a rogue, Heat Wave. Have you shot any scenes together yet? And how meaningful is it you to once again be on the same show as Purcell?

Anyone tuning in to see the two of us onscreen at the same time will not be disappointed. We've got a lot of scenes together. I just wrapped my second episode - Dom's first - in Vancouver and it was a blast. And a blast from the past. Dom and I played brothers for four years, and we developed a bond that really does feel brotherly. It was a lot of fun to tap into that but also push into new creative territory. This isn't "Michael and Lincoln Take Two." But there are moments that did feel a little wink-wink-nudge-nudge. Let's just say it was a good time.

Given the major role Captain Cold plays in The Flash mythos, presumably you'll be sticking around for a bit -- is there any indication at this point how many episodes you'll be appearing in, now that "the Flash" has been picked up for a full season?

That's up in the air. But I wouldn't be surprised if I showed up one or two more times this season. It depends on availability and what the writers have planned big-picture. Meanwhile, I'm just happy to have a place at the table.

An Evening With Leonard Snart in "The Flash"!

Posted on 2:20 PM by hill wilf

For weeks I’ve been counting down the days and hours for the much anticipated Episode of “The Flash - Going Rogue”.  I’ve been slightly apprehensive that my viewing of this Episode would be spoilt for me as it did in the past.  As you may or may not know, the other occasions I’ve had concerning Went have always been quite disastrous.  If you’re not up to “speed” with what I’m going on about then these blogs might help you out.

http://wentworthmillerwithlove.blogspot.com/2012/08/wentworth-miller-premiere-of-resident.html
http://wentworthmillerwithlove.blogspot.com/2012/08/wentworth-miller-resident-evil-4.html

Getting back on track!

 The Preparation:

As you can imagine I planned my evening’s viewing meticulously to avoid any mishaps.  Fortunately the stars were smiling down on me this time.  Tuesday, 4th November, 2014 at precisely 19h30 “The Flash” (Going Rogue) was aired on DSTV in SA.  I curled up on the sofa with a tall glass of Ice Cold Lemon Tea in hand.  No popcorn!  I’d just finished dinner. I had set the volume up as loud as my ears could stand it.  It didn’t occur to me that my neighbours might not be keen fans of “The Flash”.  All I was concerned about was that I’d miss out on every syllable that Went or rather his character Leonard Smart was going to utter.  You see I’d been waiting way too long to hear Went’s voice and to have him in my living room on my TV set again.   I also made sure the Record Button was set on my PVR just in case of interruptions e.g. irate telephone calls from my neighbours, toilet calls, owl calls, emergency calls etc.,  well you get my drift. Besides all that, I can watch the episode over and over again … fast forwarding … back tracking … slow motion …. pause … freeze … fast forwarding …  you know how it is?

The Viewing Experience:

I’m waiting with baited breath to see Wentworth’s name … there it is and gone in a “flash”.  I shriek! I settle down again and take a deep breath and sip the ice tea, my throat’s slightly sore from that shriek and my adrenaline is pumping. My eyes are focused and glued to the TV screen.  Watching … adverts …. waiting ….  more adverts … back again … watching and OMG he’s on!  Leonard Snart! Speeding on a motorcycle! Len, short for Leonard, is fit, agile and quite a stuntman. Huh!  Fearless too!  A first glimpse of his face those ice cold eyes glaring. My heart skips a beat.  Watching … waiting … more adverts … watching … Oh yes Len’s on again!  Man! He looks lean, mean, ageless and sexy.  Len’s smooth sensual tones are filling my ears.  His long fingers are caressing a steel thing called a freeze ray. Ooh!  I’m getting goose bumps/pimples all over.  Len’s no easy character that’s for sure. Gosh he’s so bitter and twisted and oh so business like. He’s sarcastic! But it’s clever and funny … I chuckle.  Watching … adverts …. waiting ….  more adverts …  back again … watching … Oh this is  funny … Len likes gum … and he chews it like a pro.  What’s this?  Len has a heart!  I don’t believe it! He’s offering a kid in a museum a stick of his gum. Aww! Now that’s sweet of him.  Oh no! He’s just used the freeze ray on someone and spoilt our moment.  I’ve got to say this guy is ruthless and fearless. It seems like his life means nothing to him.  Len jumps on trains with swift ease and dives off of them just as easily.  His not at all scared of being shot by anyone or anything! Len’s made another witty sarcastic remark. I laugh. None of the characters on the show are laughing. They obviously don’t find him amusing. Cisco has just called him “Captain Cold”.  Oh man!  Has this guy, Len, got an ego!  He is revelling at the sound of his given nickname with a devilish smile. Gosh it’s cute! I shouldn’t think that! Sheesh! Talk about vain! Don’t tell me that’s all … that’s it!  Hang on!  What’s this? Len’s teaming up with Mic, I guess its Mic Rory aka Heat Wave. It must be for episode 10. Yay! I can’t wait to see that one!

Credits ….

The End.

Eeew! I haven’t even finished my ice tea yet.

The Review:

In all seriousness Wentworth’s acting was superb in this Episode and I’m not just saying that because I’m his fan!  Wentworth definitely added excitement and charisma to the episode and it made me want to see much more of his character Leonard Snart.  His character was believable, very intimidating, intriguing, dark, menacing and quick witted. Wentworth’s slow articulate voice added intrigue to his character.  It was refreshing that Wentworth’s character is human and intelligent.  The complete opposite to a world wind, a cloning villain or a green puff of gas.

I’m so excited that Wentworth’s character “Leonard Snart” is going to feature again alongside Dominic Purcell (Heat Wave).  I have a feeling that Episode 10 of “The Flash” is going to be just as exciting as “Going Rogue” was. I sincerely hope that we are going to see Wentworth's character “Leonard Snart” in quite a few more episodes of “The Flash” because he certainly makes the TV show worthwhile watching.

The Final Note:

If I were the producers  I would seriously consider having a spin off to “The Flash” and have it called “Captain Cold” with Wentworth Miller because he’s definitely got what it takes to make a show, a hit! ”.

P.S.  I like Leonard Snart a lot and I believe we could become good buddies!!!!

Captain Cold Reviews for "The Flash - Going Rogue"!

Posted on 1:12 PM by hill wilf

A selection of a few of the reviews of Wentworth’s performance in “The Flash - Going Rogue”.  Enjoy!

Whilst there’s a lot going on in this latest episode of the show, it’s only fair that Emily Bett Rickards and Wentworth Miller get some time in the sun. Much like Felicity is often depicted as the glue that holds Team Arrow together, here she uses her experience and skills to smooth over some potential cracks in the dynamic between Barry and his chums at S.T.A.R. Labs. Similarly, she also acts as the voice of the audience here, asking the logical questions to the S.T.A.R. Labs crew about Barry’s condition and its potential repercussions. And while Felicity is a reassuring voice for Barry Allen et al, the tones of Wentworth Miller are absolutely perfect for Leonard Snart. From the moment he deadpans “Hey, cool it” early on, Snart has your attention. There's some pun-tastic mouthfuls of dialogue, yet all are handled in just the right way. Slow, methodical, callous and clinical, this adaptation of a character often seen as a C-level joke in the comic book world has huge potential to be something special. Now Captain Cold is never going to fill the role of the main villain of a season-long arc, but we just hope that he’ll get to dip his icy toes into The Flash at regular intervals – it certainly appears that he’ll be appearing at least once more in Barry Allen’s future. But safe to say, Miller completely nails the character, giving an eerie, calculating calmness to a villain often mocked in other formats.

http://www.starburstmagazine.com/reviews/television-reviews/10130-the-flash-season-1-episode-4-going-rogue

Captain Cold, aka Leonard Snart is one of the Flash’s main Rogues.  And this episode does a great job of introducing him and setting him up as such.  First off, Wentworth Miller was a great cast as Snart.  I never really watched Prison Break but I know of Miller’s work on that show and in other places and I like him.  He pulls off the cold, calm and calculated persona of Snart extremely well.  There’s a sense of arrogance to him that he brings that is so necessary when you have a villain (who isn’t a Metahuman) going toe-to-toe with a character like Flash in a recurring role.  Even better, at the end of the episode, they show Snart recruiting a new partner to help him take on Flash.  While some folks might have guessed that it’s the character Heatwave, you might not know that Dominic Purcell (also from Prison Break) will be playing that character.  So I fully expect to be seeing more and more top level Rogues going up against Barry and his team.

http://www.movietrailerreviews.net/index.php/tv-show/flash-review-s1e4-going-rogue/

Prison Break star Wentworth Miller made his debut as Leonard Snart/Captain Cold on this episode, and he was an absolute joy to watch on the screen. This was the live action debut of the character and Miller pulls it off with such a great charisma, you know he could go down in television villain history.

I loved his performance on the show however there was one part about his character that irritated me. It is a key part of Captain Cold in the comics. He does NOT kill. They hinted at his moral code in the beginning of the episode, however he went on to kill some people later. Hopefully, since this is the origin of Captain Cold, they do highlight this and have him develop his moral code over the show, but other than this detail, everything about Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold is perfect.

http://uthmag.com/cws-flash-1x04-going-rogue-uthmag-review/

Not much information is given on Snart’s back-story, but already we are given a sense of how calm and calculating he is as a leader. Wentworth Miller played the role very well and being that Leonard Snart is a huge villain from the comics, he’s really doing the character justice. He pulls off the villainous persona well enough and fortunately we’ll be seeing more of him as the episode concluded with his escape.

http://www.withanaccent.com/2014/10/30/flash-s1-ep04-going-rogue/

As for the rest of the story, Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold was pretty great, and his arrival brought us more information on Cisco, and his reckless creation of tools without prior approval from STAR Labs. He is a good villain, and one we are interested in seeing a little more of at some point in the future. After all, it was nice for there to be a villain not captured within the hour.

http://cartermatt.com/138481/flash-episode-4-review-felicitys-arrow-crossover-worthy-one/

One minor criticism from me on the show up to this point was the lack of engaging villains. That problem is completely solved in this episode with Wentworth Miller’s Leonard Snart aka Captain Cold. From the minute he’s introduced the character is menacing and intelligent and immediately seems like a credible threat to Barry and his team. Very little time is wasted in getting him his signature weapon and putting it to use. He quickly susses out Barry’s major weakness being that he cares for innocent people and, like Zod in Superman II, puts people in danger to keep Barry distracted. Despite the fact that he has no powers to speak of his strategic intelligence more than makes up for this. I’m glad that he will definitely return as he’s a great foil for Barry as well as being a superbly acted villain.

Wentworth Miller's Captain Cold finally gives the show an engaging and menacing villain who feels like a character instead of an antagonistic force that needs defeated. It has been pretty much the only thing the show has been missing since it began so it's encouraging to see this start to happen. It's also great to see how he tested The Flash and how well the speed powers were visualised even if the CGI was slightly ropey in parts. Spectacle is something this show does very well.

http://kneelbeforeblog.co.uk/tv/the-flash-going-rogue/

But the real star of the night was Wentworth Miller as the first smart villain that Barry has ever faced, Leonard Snart, aka Captain Cold. He’s not a meta, he’s a career criminal who, after his diamond heist is stopped by the “Streak,” gets Cisco’s stolen cold weapon and goes on an anti-Streak rampage. From the beginning, he’s set up as a new arch-nemesis for Barry. Snart’s dad was a cop gone bad who’s now rotting in jail, “Snart’s dad’s in prison too? We should start a club.” But where Barry is fun-loving and impulsive, Snart is thorough and meticulous. He kills anyone who tries to leave his crew, but won’t kill cops unless it’s necessary. He also seems to share his comic counterpart’s code to not kill children, as he’s seen being friendly to a child while casing a museum. Captain Cold lives up to his name, he’s a stone-cold badguy who thinks things through down to the second. Miller plays him perfectly, down to his deep monotone voice and almost sassy badassery (and sexiness). He quickly discovers that Barry’s true weakness is his need to save people, after Barry is slowed down by the gun and can’t save a man from its blast. Finally, a real match for Barry! As he says to Felicity, “opposites attract,” and this new villain is the right other side of the coin for The Flash, at least for now. In the end, Snart endangers a train full of civilians in order to get away, only leaving Barry alive after the arrival of his science sidekicks. Thank goodness he gets to live to fight The Flash another day! In fact, he even usurps Wells’ place in the final scene. This time we see Snart in a Keystone City motel recruiting a mysterious fire-loving friend named Mick to his anti-Flash crew. That can only mean Mick Rory, aka Heatwave, another Rogue who’s been cast as Miller’s Prison Break brother Dominic Purcell.

http://www.tracking-board.com/tb-talks-tv-the-flash-review-going-rogue/

Miller not only gave Snart an incredibly appealing and menacing personality with more than a few cool tricks up his sleeve, but also realized the first truly good villain that the show has yet had overall. Some of his lines bordered on cheesy, perhaps as a nod to Captain Cold’s occasionally goofy personality in the comics, but even then, Miller made everything work wonderfully, even when he dons the character’s trademark parka at the climax of the episode. His altercations with Barry worked very well, with Barry even being haunted by a security guard that he fails to save from Snart’s Cold Gun, leading to a nice conflict that ties back to Detective West’s warnings from the previous couple of episodes.

The highlight however easily came when Snart tricks Barry into following him, believing Snart is trying to escape, before Snart derails a train with his Cold Gun and tries to make his actual escape. This leads to one of the most awesome sequences that the show has had yet, with Barry constantly speeding in and out of the bouncing, flipping train cars in slow-motion as he individually zips every passenger to safety. Even for television, this scene was amazingly shot and very ambitious, and the twist that Captain Cold even planned for Barry to succeed so that he could distract him and kill him made things all the better!

The only thing that may bug some here is that Cisco tricks Snart with a fake Cold Gun, leading to Snart just arbitrarily walking away. You could argue however that Snart saw through the ruse, and simply thought it would be more fun to dick with Barry another day, especially since he thanks Barry for giving him more of a challenge. The fact that he keeps the diamond may have felt like a loss, but for a villain this cool, it’s almost satisfying to have him walk away with his loot, and get another shot at Barry later. The ending tease with Snart getting back in touch with his old buddy, Mick, and giving him another stolen weapon that generates super-heated flames, should also get fans quite giddy for future episodes as well!

http://www.eggplante.com/2014/10/29/flash-1-4-going-rogue-review/

The Flash may possibly be one of the most consistently solid shows that is currently airing and it just seems to be getting better and better as the weeks go by. Before the pilot season started we brought news about some of the stars of Prison Break reuniting as villains for the show, well the ball has officially started rolling on that as one half of the duo make their Flash debut this week and as always, Wentworth Miller absolutely killed it every time he was on screen!

How did you like Wentworth Miller's introduction as Leonard Snart, Captain Cold?

Hank: I didn't just like him, I loved Wentworth Miller as Leonard Snart. He brought such a cool (pun intended) quality to the role without making Snart feel campy at all. Captain Cold could have easily come across as cheesy as Arrow's original Count Vertigo. Instead Wentworth's subtle performance and mannerisms made Snart a believable and grounded villain. Nothing cartoony about this Captain Cold!

Tanya: I thought it was fantastic. I'm honestly not overly familiar with the comic-book version of Captain Cold, but he made a great TV villain and worthy adversary. The fact that he's actually not a meta-human, but just a very good criminal with a really powerful weapon, also makes him standout.

Narsimha: I don't know if I agree with Hank that Miller's Captain Cold isn't cartoony. I thought that Miller's stoic, but often times too rigid performance made him fit into this comic book villain role even better. It added to the anesthetic. I've always thought Miller was an okay actor who was just perfect for Prison Break, and he seems to be well cast once again. I love that he isn't a meta and that he's complex in the way he tries to limit unnecessary kills, but then is smart enough to use one of Barry's weakness (his compassion) to get the better of him and doesn't hesitate in harming civilians.

From the very beginning of the episode, Leonard Snart, aka Captain Cold, was a large and looming presence. At first I thought it was going to be difficult to separate Wentworth Miller from Prison Break’s Michael Scofield, but Miller had such a command of the character that it was easy to see him as a villain. – See more at: http://www.thenerdmachine.com/the-flash-going-rogue-review/#sthash.C95PCTws.czSqXeEf.dpuf
