Wentworth Miller: "Yes" Israel, Went has arrived! (Part Two)

Posted on 1:25 PM by hill wilf

SHALOM!

To recap in “Part One” of Went's visit to Israel, I wrote about Went attending a Conference and interviews.  I've uploaded the videos that I found interesting.

I love the following video.  The words to the song are so lovely ...

Wow!  Went speaks so intelligently and beautifully ... [She gushes with pride ...]

... and Went says he's not much of a dancer ... I beg to differ.  Check out his  moves ...

The following day he was also interviewed but unfortunately it was translated and the translation wasn't very clear.  I’ve taken the liberty of translating it myself and hopefully it will make more sense to you.

Quote:

Wentworth Miller:
“I wasn’t planning on becoming a sex symbol.”

Interviewer:
We saw you at a Press Conference yesterday and you were also interviewed for TV.  How the hell did you manage to be polite and patient all the time?

Wentworth Miller smiles and answers:
“I have bad days and good days, but I have a little bit of a different perspective from other actors in the business.  I spent a lot of time working behind the scenes … running from audition to audition, and there were a lot of times when I couldn’t pay my rent and this gave me a new perspective on things.”

Interviewer:
13 Years ago you visited Israel, are you excited to be here again?

Wentworth Miller:
It’s not that easy for me to visit.  There’s a lot of bureaucracy and red tape that I have to go through.  My visits have to be co-ordinated with the Prison Break Production Team besides a million other things.  I can’t just hop on a plane and come here.  I’ve wanted to visit here for a long time and I’m glad that I could do it now.  I’m very happy to be here.

Interviewer:
You’ve spoken about the less glamorous periods in your life.  How does it feel now that you’re a superstar?  Do you feel like it’s a dream come true?

Wentworth Miller:
When I first started acting I didn’t have a role model to look up to and one who I could dream of becoming.  I believe today there isn’t an actor like me, and if in the future some director looks for a younger version of Wentworth Miller it will flatter me because it will mean that I’ve created a new kind of actor.

Interviewer:
Your character in Prison Break is very complex.  Is it hard to juggle between Michael Scofield and Wentworth Miller?

Wentworth Miller:
I’ve been Michael Scofield for 57 episodes and it’s been a busy and interesting journey.  Michael Scofield has done so much in a short period of time.  He’s not a bad person, but, Sara’s death weighs on him, and I think that he feels responsible for her death, so I don’t think he could have a happy ending … she was his happy ending.

Interviewer:
You’re a pretty smart guy.  You have a Princeton degree.  Do you find it embarrassing when people ask you to pose with your shirt off?

Wentworth Miller:
Yeah … it’s part of the business.  Once in an interview they asked me if I like to wear Boxers or Tangas and they even asked me to open one more button on my shirt or if I’d take it off.  Unfortunately, in this business there are superficial aspects to it, that’s the way it is.  I never planned on Michael being a sex symbol, but it happened.  A lot of people identify with him and see him as a hero.

Interviewer:
Do you want to act in a movie one day and is this something that interests you?

Wentworth Miller:
It’s a nice option to have but for now the show keeps me busy and besides I can’t do anything else, but I would love to do a movie one day.  Some actors see TV as a stepping stone to the big screen.  I would love to act more on TV in the future.

Interviewer:
Do you have a dream role?

Wentworth Miller:
I’ve always dreamt of doing a role like Jack Nicholson did in “The Shining”.  I’ve always liked the psychological elements in characters.  That interests me and I would love to play a bad guy some day.  Unfortunately that is something I haven’t had a chance to do yet.
